Women in the Wind Ormond Beach Angels Chapter held its inaugurral ride on Saturday January 11th. The weather forcast was warm, 81 degrees, with a 60% chance of thunderstorms. The sun was rising as Gypsy of WITW FreeBirds Chapter set out to meet Dianna of WITW Silver Springs and Toledo Chapters for the ride to Ormond Beach. It had rained earlier, the roads were wet, but blue was peeking through the clouds.
Arriving at the RV park where we were to meet up, we realized we had not discussed where in the park to meet. Three of the four members of WITW Livin' in the Wind Chapter were already waiting, wondering where the host chapter was! A quick trip into the office resolved the question, and we soon were greeting the four members of Women in the Wind's 100th Chapter! Coffee and donuts were available as we discussed changing the original plans to ride to Three Bananas for lunch due to the possibility of severe weather.
Gypsy rode sweep, in part because she was trying out a new Ion Air 2 Action Cam, recording the ladies in front of her on video (to be posted after review and editing). Riding part of the infamous "Loop" brought the ladies to the White Eagle, where they lined their bikes up for photos.

The chapters got acquainted over lunch, telling stories about their riding experiences, and Women in the Wind involvement. It was amusing watching the confused look on the faces of a couple of gentlemen who entered the White Eagle after checking out the bikes in the parking lot! It took them a moment to realize all those bikes belonged to the group of ladies! |
All in all, it turned out to be a beautiful day! The weather held until after dark, catching Gypsy in the tempest about 11 miles from her destination!
